Berkeley Electric Cooperative has received a $500K grant from Google to work with nonprofit Hope Repair for home improvements in the Lowcountry.
The grant will help residents save costs (up to $5,300 per home) through energy upgrades and repairs.

On Aug. 12, Coastal Community Foundation launched a $100 million Tri-County Housing Futures Fund to boost affordability in Dorchester, Berkeley & Charleston.
Led by former Charleston housing official Geona Shaw Johnson, the five-year initiative will use grants and loans to preserve affordability, with its first investment coming by early 2027.
